Report: Finance ministry improves Russia’s 2015 deficit forecast
MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- The Finance Ministry has improved its optimistic scenario for Russia’s budget deficit to 3% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2015 from 3.7%, Deputy Minister Maxim Oreshkin told channel Rossiya 24 in an interview broadcasted late Monday.
“Our current estimates show that we will have a smaller deficit than we’ve assumed in the budget initially. There is a 3.7% of the GDP deficit in the budget law, in its amendments, but I think that under such an optimistic scenario we can see a figure closer to 3% by the end of this year,” Oreshkin said.
On May 20, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that he expects a 3.4% of the GDP deficit this year.
